Running Banter

98% of the fun in Triathlon is the training. The other 2% is the measure of how much fun we had.

MOO-Crew Does The Turkey Trot!

Dennis (RunBubbaRun) is back! Today was the first day Dennis' doctor cleared him to restart his training and racing. So what does he do? He joins his fellow MOO-Crew (IMOO-07) members for a hilly four miler - YEAH! The only MOO-Crew member missing was Tom. I guess we should have declared it mandatory.

Everybody ran great, posting some very fast times. Pam, as usual, had a podium finish - Yea Pam! Gil, Scott, Tom F., Keri, Caroline, Dennis and David were all smiles at the finish, so I know they all enjoyed the race.

I saw the race results and discovered my age listed as "0". I can only assume one of two things:

1. When you get to be my age they are too polite to publish it.

2. When you run really fast, they don't put you in your age group.

Of course, I suppose I could have forgotten to fill out that field on the entry form... :-)

Around 2:00 this afternoon, the turkey came out of the oven, and it needed some time to "rest". So guess what I did? Thats right, a beautiful 20 mile ride on my road bike! Dennis, I would have called you for the ride but your wife, daughter and doctor paid me not to.

Next up:

Friday long run. 13 miles? Anyone interested meet at the Frankfort parking lot at 8:00?

Saturday trail ride. Swallow Cliff? Casual Ride. I'm open for any start time.

Sunday - I'm heading downtown for a training session.

Saturday December 2nd - trail run and ride at Swallow Cliff (easy)?

Sunday December 3rd - Jingle Bell 5k Downtown

Another Great Day on the Trails

What a GREAT day!

It was raining lightly at 6:30AM when we left for Swallow Cliff. However, by the time the we started the run, the sun was coming out, and it turned into a beautiful day for running and biking the trails. 12 of us ran the 8 mile loop, and 8 completed the two loop ride (one in each direction).

Business Travel and Training

Hilton Head Island - 8 mile run complete before sunrise!

Traveling is both fun and tough. Meeting and working with new people is fun, although the travel part gets old. One of the constants I have found is getting out for a pre-dawn run no matter where I am, or the weather conditions.

I know that no matter where I am I will have a memorable run: warm mornings in Tampa Bay, 12 inches of new snow in Ottawa, below zero in Toronto, Christmas morning around the lakes in Minneapolis, steady rain fall in New York or sunrise runs on Hilton Head Island.

No matter where I am, I have my run.
